Click Buy on EUR/USD and your account instantly shows a small loss. The price hasn't moved yet. This is where it comes from:
- 💸 Spread: the gap between the buy and sell price, paid on every single trade
- 🧾 Commission: a flat fee per lot at ECN brokers, shown right in your trade history
- 🌙 Swap: interest charged for every night you hold a position. Wednesday night counts 3x because it covers the weekend
It adds up quietly. In the Academy's example, a scalper trading 100 lots a month pays about $18,000 a year on a spread-only account and about $12,000 on an ECN account, for the same trades.
